Acura RSX DC5 Coilover Install Instructions

Welcome to the Acura RSX DC5 2002-2006 coilover installation instructions guide. This detailed walkthrough will provide step-by-step instructions to ensure a smooth and successful installation. We’ve included the recommended tools, precise torque specs straight from the manufacturer, and other essential tips to help you along the way. This guide focuses on the Function and Form Type 1 Coilover kit but will also work with our Type 2, Type 3, and Type 4 coilover systems, designed to fit first-generation Acura RSX models from 2002 to 2006. For reference, our test vehicle was an Acura RSX modified with 205/55/16 tires. After installation, we recommend scheduling an alignment about a week later to allow time for the suspension to settle and achieve optimal performance. There is a link to a video at the bottom of this post if you would like to watch it instead.

The Acura RSX, produced from 2002 to 2006, was the successor to the legendary Integra, bringing a fresh blend of performance, refinement, and modern styling to the compact sports coupe segment. Built on the DC5 chassis, the RSX featured a front MacPherson strut suspension in place of the Integra’s double wishbone setup, a controversial change aimed at improving ride quality while maintaining sporty handling. The independent rear suspension and lightweight chassis provided a responsive and well-balanced driving experience, making the RSX a favorite among enthusiasts. The RSX Type S took performance further with a 200-hp K20A2 engine, a 6-speed manual transmission, and stiffer suspension tuning, offering precise handling and strong cornering ability. Even today, the RSX remains a tuner favorite, with aftermarket suspension upgrades enhancing its agility on the streets and track.
