The BMW E46 is the forth generation of the BMW 3 Series, which was produced from 1997 to 2006. The E46 was claimed by BMW to be 70 percent more rigid then its E36 Predecessor. Aluminium was used for suspension parts in order to decrease unsprung mass. BMW came out with 4 different body styles, Sedan, coupe, convertible, and wagon.
